Important dates:
I and the other students from other parts of the U.S. and Canada participating in the 'Australearn' program will be departing as a group on February 11th, 2008 from L.A. We will go to Cairns for a few days for a program introduction. I will be leaving for Sydney on February 16th. My fist day of classes at the University of Sydney will be March 3 and my last day of finals will be the 28th of June.

I was required to choose 8 classes to be chosen from (four are back-ups). They are as follows: (1) Flute lessons with Dr. Alexa Still, (2) Aboriginal Australia: Cultural Journeys, (3) Russian Music History, (4) Musical Worlds of Today, (5) Australian and Asian Music, (6) Film Music, (7) A Global Sound: African Music, and (8) Creative Music Skills.
Money =(
The estimated total cost of one semester in Sydney is about $23,000. I have recieved $3,000 from the Honors College and am still waiting to hear back from three other scholarships I have applied for. Cross your fingers!
Housing:
I have applied for housing on the University of Sydney Campus. I will most likely be living in a five bedroom suite.

And yet nothing in here about your true reason for going to Australia... to become the world's greatest kangaroo hunter.
Ah yes, my list of things to do while I'm there: (1)shoot a kangaroo, (2) SCUBA dive on the great barrier reef, (3) find a cute Australian man, and (4) learn how to play the flute better....
How exactly do you hunt a kangaroo? Shotgun?
And since I see you have an interest in photography as well (as do I) I will expect to see many great photos on your blog... perhaps of that kangaroo you find. Are you taking a shotgun or do they check one out to you upon registering at the U? ;)
Seriously, I'm sad I won't get to know you this semester, but EXTREMELY happy for you and your new adventure. Stay safe and I look forward to reading your blog.
